Our group wants to help make the kids voices be heard at Vista Square Elementary. Our user has been lacking with nutritious values in their lifestyles. We want to work with them in achieving a strong healthy foundation which will make a major impact on their future by helping them improve their health. We will greatly contribute to a new wave of future healthy citizens in Chula Vista and neighboring areas. We plan on doing this by working with the kids to help us decide what healthier meals appeal to them.
Project Proposal
Goals for the Project
By creating a recipe book for kids to use or family to replace junk food. The recipe book will include healthy breakfast ideas, lunch ideas, dinner ideas, and even vegan options. We will include recipes that don’t contain allergenic foods such as nuts, dairy, eggs, etc. The recipes will be convenient for all families by making them affordable and healthy. We hope to have the book ready by February. We will be hosting a Health Festival to launch our recipe book. The festival will be an event at VIsta Square during school. Before we can do this we have to email Ms. Anchea to see when we can host it. In this festival we will have different booths such as one to launch our cookbook and more. For the cookbook we will take down people’s emails and numbers if they take our books. A month later we will have the kids take the surveys again to compare the usage of the book.
In addition, we will look into Leah’s Pantry which is a non-profit organization. They provide nutrition training and they along with cookbooks. This will help us professionally make our own product. We hope to make our book Bilingual, add drawings/pictures and possibly make it an ebook. We want to support the kids of Vista Square Elementary with our product by visiting the students with this book at least once a month. During each visit we will cook with the kids in hope for them to bring those recipes with them and try them at home.
